Inclusive NZ is excited to announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive Michael White! Michael is set to take up his new position at the end of November.
The Inclusive NZ whanau is looking forward to working alongside Michael as he helps us transform our organisation’s strategic goals into reality, and stay true to our vision which is to create inclusive communities, where all people can work, contribute and fulfil their aspirations.
Michael said there were many reasons why he was looking forward to taking on his new role, but at its core, he believes it relates to his drive for equality for all, through building inclusive communities.
For the last decade Michael has been able to work towards this goal through his current position as a Senior Legal Adviser at The New Zealand Human Rights Commission. A big part of this role has meant Michael has been able to share his knowledge and expertise on strategic litigation, as well as act as an adviser on government policy and legislation in relation to human rights law.
Prior to this, Michael worked as a lawyer in private practice, for the New Zealand Government, as well as international organisations. He has also held roles on Boards for a number of Not for Profit organisations, as well as worked on international projects where the objective was capability building in relation to human rights. In addition, Michael is an experienced trainer and facilitator, and his research on international law and human rights law and practice has been widely published.
On a more personal note Michael is married to Julia and is the proud father of two children. In his downtime, Michael enjoys travelling, surfing, playing tennis and spending time with his family.
